"Golden Time runs on a system of rules which include honesty, kindness and working hard. If these rules are broken, the child has time deducted from his or her Golden Time activity which takes place every Friday afternoon. Activities include active games, painting, card-making, bingo, watching cartoons and doing aerobics. Anne Todd, the assistant head teacher, calls it "a nice end to a Friday" and says: "We don't have the stressed end of the week that we used to have". She believes it prepares the children for secondary school as the pupils get used to meeting different teachers and mixing with children of different ages.
The programme ties in with the Department for Education and Skills' Excellence and Enjoyment initiative and the government's Every Child Matters agenda with its emphasis on good behaviour."
Golden Time, the behaviour management strategy, was developed a few years ago as a key part of Jenny Mosley's Whole School Quality Circle Time model. www.circle-time.co.uk
Our Golden Time web site, however, concentrates on providing activities for schools for all the curriculum areas and for any time use and therefore is not linked directly with Jenny Mosley's strategy.
